Chip Taggart – BS, CSCS
Chip has always had a great interest in sports. His interest, however, was different than most of his friends and family members. Instead of focusing entirely on wins and losses, Chip focused on the athlete and his or her performance. From the time Chip was in 7th grade, he spent many hours in the weight room. Chip always pushed himself to his physical limits while learning from his coaches. During the summers, Chip would get small groups of his friends together and organize mini-conditioning sessions for fun. Without even knowing it, Chip was overseeing his first strength and conditioning programs.
Chip put all he had learned to work as a student assistant strength coach at Barton County Community College, working with athletes from all sports, before moving to Lawrence to attend the University of Kansas. At KU, He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and completed all course work for his Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology. Chip worked in the KU athletic department as a graduate assistant strength coach where he again worked with athletes from all sports. Chip has been certified by the National Strength and Conditioning Association’s Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist since 1994. Over the past 20 years, Chip has worked in the fitness field and has accumulated over 46,000 hours as a trainer. In addition to being a co-owner of KC Speed and Sport Academy, Chip has been the sole owner of Elite Physique Personal Training, Inc. for 13 years and FitnessQuest, LLC for 8 years.
